Astroved Member’s Transformative Experience with Ganesha Clay Statues 2008

Last year in 2008, I had the great good fortune to be in Chennai to see the clay Ganeshas at Baba’s ashram assembled for Ganesha’s birthday and to help prepare them for the pooja.

First, I was surprised at their size. They were much larger than I expected. I has sponsored them in the past from overseas, I had the mental picture they would be tiny, and these were a good size and required care in handling.

Next, I was surprised how exciting it was to see over 350 Ganeshas lined up. The staff had arranged them very neatly and precisely. There was an air of anticipation, preparation and happiness.

I was impressed at the detailing of the clay Ganeshas.. The features were carefully chiseled out, so the eyes, the trunk, the face, the torso, everything was clear to see.

It started early. At 7:30 AM a priest was chanting outside my window. I was staying a few days in a guest room at an ashram in India where Astroved services are performed. Popping out of bed, I quickly washed my face and dressed and walked outside.

The 90 day program has been an amazing success for me. Before the program, I was having issues finding a life partner for the past 2 years. I am happy to report that after getting the poojas and rituals done, I have found an amazing life partner and I am getting married this year. It could not have been better as I found someone I could connect very deeply with.

Astroved Sponsors bring Christmas Cheer to Orphans

Your gifts brought some welcome cheer and happy smiles for deserving children in Tamil Nadu, India. It is truly in giving that we receive.

On Christmas morning, December 25, 2008, several staff members and volunteers went to visit Boystown, a school supported over the past several years by Tripura Foundation. The boys created custom Christmas cards for us with beautiful graphics, and the caretaker, Mr. Kannan, was very gracious in giving tour of the entire facility.

After a short visit at Boystown, Astroved staff and volunteers next travelled to a nearby children’s home which has 120 children who are either orphans or have families which cannot care for them. All the children were given a gift of new clothes sponsored by Astroved supporters. All the boys received a fresh, collared shirt and sturdy trousers, and all the girls were given a colorful skirt with coordinated blouse. The children were very excited to receive these personal gifts.

The children posed for photographs and practiced “shaking hands.”

Next a hot lunch with favorite south Indian cooked foods along with fruit and Christmas sweets was served to all the children.

The clothes, lunch and sweets were all sponsored by Astroved supporters, and we wanted to share a big “THANK YOU!” from the children and from us for a most magical Christmas morning.

All the planets are said to be pleased by charity donations, and seeing the happiness in the faces of the children, it is easy to understand why.
